In the small town of Podunk Hollow, Katrina leads a strange life,
keeping her real home among a family of wild forest animals a guarded
secret. But when Katrina learns the forest animals are planning to attack
humankind for the effects of climate change, she becomes an accomplice
to their deadly campaign.
Just as things are going according to plan, Katrina's life unravels
as events from her past are revealed. Yet, before she can make things
right again, Katrina discovers her new enemies are not so easily overcome.
With the fate of the world on her shoulders, can Katrina stop the animals
from having the last word?

Katrina: is a nine-year-old, foundling tomboy raised
by forest animals; this accounts for her quick temper and feral tendencies.

The Journalist : is a resourceful science writer for
the local paper. He tracks the approach of Hurricane George to the small
town.

Mr. and Mrs. Makepeace: are a young, newly-wed couple
who adopt Katrina.

The Man: is a "cleaner" hired by the Globex
Corporation to destroy incriminating evidence at the scene of the Walker
Disaster. He is implacable, agitated, and usually smells of vodka.

Bailey : is Katrina's very territorial, teenage rival.

The Sheriff: is Podunk Hollow's law enforcement.

Mr. Mudgeon: is the head of the town's orphanage.
